Jove grew up in an Eladrin civilization known as Daranith. He was very young when a war broke out between Daranith and a Drow society. It was caused by the Eladrin building a statue of Elios on top of an undercity that belonged to the Drow for centuries. The Eladrin military failed, and the Drow consumed their society. His father Hadarin died fighting the Drow and his mother, after finding out about his father's death, took her son and ran away from Daranith. A human male found them on the outskirts of a human colony known as Talara, and decided to take them in. His name was Ralnod and he was a master of the lute. Jove's mother Althena liked to sing, and later on, their music drew them together (She didn't really care for humans too much at first, but she grew fond of Ralnod with time and through music). The townspeople never knew about their relationship due to the fact that Ralnod kept to himself and lived on the outskirts of the town.
Jove was picked on and even beaten a few times in school growing up because of his Eladrin heritage. He wasn't very strong or athletic, but he could move very quickly, so fights didn't happen too often for him. Growing up, he learned about his fey origins and decided to learn magic as a means of defending himself. Jove's original name was Soveliss, but was given the name Jove by classmates later on when he got into a fight about his religious beliefs with another student. He used a thunder based spell that he has to this day not been able to replicate and won. Jove, believed by the townsfolk as being the god of sky and thunder, was also said to have rode a pegasus (which fit into his liking of Eachthighern). The name stuck and even he refered to himself as Jove after a while.
Naturally, the Eladrin are a very neutral and elitist race, but growing up with humans, Jove picked up more charismatic qualities and became good by nature. Now, at the very young age of 16 (practically nothing for an Eladrin) he is fairly respected in Talara. There was an accident that was caused when an elf hunting group from Hyalia (a neighboring elf community) had accidentally killed a human child when he was searching though the forest for herbs. Tensions were rising between Talara and Hyalia, and war seemed certain. However, being able to speak Elven, and knowing about both human and fey cultures, he was able to calm tensions between them (being a close relative to the elf species helped too. The elves weren't exactly willing to listen to the humans at the time).
Even though he was respected for a while in Talara, the people began to turn on him again in his later teen years when he fell in love with a human woman named Iris. For a while, they had spent time together, but one night, some of the townspeople got together and decided to attack her home. (It is not understood why they attacked her home instead of Jove's, but one would guess it's because they were afraid of him. His powers as a Wizard in training were growing and no simple townsfolk would take him on. Even members of the military who were trained in magic feared him because his race was so strange to them, and they assumed he was far more powerful than he actually was).
The Eladrin, unlike humans, do not sleep. They trance for roughly 4 hours a day; during this time, they are completely open to their surroundings and can respond to events almost as fast as if they were awake. Jove heard screams emanating from the other side of the town, and rushed over as fast as he could. However, even with his speed, he arrived too late. He found her dead, and defiled. This wreaked havoc on his mind.
Being good natured does not mean one is above rage. Jove immediately began attacking the town, asking the men to come out and fight him. At the climax of his attack, he cast a flaming sphere (for the first time, no less) in the streets and caused a fire that ended up consuming a large portion of their town. To say the least, he left Talara that night and ventured off into the forest in search of a quiet place that he may call home.
During his trances at night, he started having dreams of a group of warriors saving the world or doing something greatly important. He began to have these dreams almost every night until one day he stumbled across a group battling with a great number of creatures. He jumped into the fight to aid them and inevitably joined the group. Now he travels with them and aids them in battle because he believes these are the warriors in his dreams. Although, the nature of his companions are a bit...different than what he was expecting, his belief that they will do something very important keeps him going.
Calm, Collective, Kind and Respective. Can be somewhat distant and reclusive, but not to the extent of most Eladrin. Generally does not want to harm any form of life, but has no problem if it is a matter of survival. Has been known to play jokes on his friends using his magic.
Learned to play the lute from his father. Has a general disregard for human men and a deep-seated hatred of the Drow.
He worships Dairis but has a fondness of Eachthighern and Valarin.
